CSS stands for cascading style sheets. CSS code is a programming language used in website design and in the creation of HTML templates. You use different CSS codes to design the layout of the Web Page. There are many codes a Site author can use so they can choose the most appropriate layout for their Web Site.

The CSS code was designed to be used in the web design field because it will make designing and editing web pages much easier. Before the invention of CSS, Site Authors would have to copy and paste the same formatting options to every page on a site to dictate things like font size and colour choices. This Clearly would slow down the job for web designers and would cost them precious time and money.
